Hello beautiful people! I had the opportunity to attend Wizarding Dayz this year on Friday. I helped out my publisher at their booth, and then got to explore. So, I decided to share some fun pictures and some of my thoughts based on said pictures. So lets hop right into it! Books can take us into a whole other worldAt Wizarding Dayz, they had a replica of the wardrobe from The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. For those of you who may not know, in that book, the protagonists travel into the magical world of Narnia after going through a portal in a wardrobe. So here are my bookish thoughts on it. There is an immense power in great writing. When you read something that is well written, you can be transported to a whole other world. Any great story brings you into another world. I have found in my own writing that often the key to this is great description. If you can properly describe your world, the reader can picture it in their mind, and it will feel as though they are in your world. This immerses the reader and helps to keep them engaged in your world and gives them a world they won't want to leave. Any great story brings you into another world. Being a "Worthy Author"At Wizarding Dayz, they had the sword in the stone from the myths of King Arthur. So of course I had to talk about worthiness! You have to be worthy of peoples attention to have an audience. Now you may be saying, 'Kenny, but what if I am not worthy?!' That is exact opposite of what you should be asking. You should be saying, 'what can I do to become worthy of an audience?' Now let me tell you what you need to do, at least in my opinion. You need to have something unique to you, something that makes you stand out from the crowd. Almost anyone can write some fluff story about love or something like that, but you need to find something for your story that makes it unique. Let me give you an example. Lets talk about Twilight. According to my understanding, Twilight is a love story involving vampires and werewolves. If you take away the vampires and werewolves, you have just another love story. What makes it interesting is this bigger world. So you should find some way to make you and your books stand out, make it so you demand an audiences attention. That is how you become worthy of an audience. What I found is making me stand out is the fact that I am a teen author, and there aren't many of us around. Final ThoughtsI hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts coming out of Wizarding Dayz. The idea of this whole blog is to allow me to impart wisdom, advice and writing tips to you. So I hope this blog has been able to achieve that. Please let me know what you are doing to set your writing apart and what books you have found to really transport you into another world down in the comments. Until next time, I love you all and keep on writing!
